Endometriosis is an inflammatory, hormonal and immune driven condition that affects many women. Symptoms often go undiagnosed for years, but present as severe menstrual cramps, pain during intercourse, bowel movements or other nonspecific pelvic pain that may or may not cycle with a the menstrual cycle.

The challenges with treating this condition result from it’s high risk of recurrence, even after surgery, and the fertility-suppressing nature of drug treatments. Women often struggle with infertility, lost work days and significant pelvic pain.

Dr. Robertson has written a paper on the evidence supporting the Naturopathic treatments for Endometriosis, that was published by the Integrative Health Care Practitioners Journal in 2009. Since this time she has also been asked to join the Integrative Team at the Endometriosis Clinic at McMaster University, and has continued to work with the Doctors and Nurses to support their patients before and after surgery.

Treatment options for endometriosis focus on restoring fertility, reducing inflammation and pelvic pain, and improving quality of life. Endometriosis is a complex disease that requires a multidisciplinary approach to achieve the best results.
